Course Description
The objective of this subject is to make the students to have habitual in writing without cheating/avoid plagiarism. This course intends to consolidate students’ knowledge of paragraph structure, organization, and function. The course will also reinforce paragraph composition skills and introduce students to the practice of paragraph writing for academic purpose. It will prepare students for work in high level English writing courses. Moreover, this course will focus on grammatical aspects and rhetorical functions that contribute to the paragraph type.
Course learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, students are expected to be able to:
- Master the sentences with the correct punctuation, spelling and capitalization in a text.
- Master simple sentences in a text
- Mater compound sentences in a text.
- Master the complex sentences in a text
- Master compound complex sentences in a text.
- Master sentences of present, past and future tense in a text.
- Master declarative, interrogatives, imperative, and exclamatory sentences in a text.
- Master how to create simple paragraph
- Master in creating coherence paragraph with words transitions.
- Master how doing the simple citations.
Topics:
Course topics will include the following:
1. Paragraph structure (topic sentence, supporting examples, transition sentence)
2. Writing process (pre-writing, writing, re-writing)
3. Grammar & mechanics as needed
Method of Instruction:
1. Lecture

3. Journal of writing
Types of Assignments:
1. Short papers
2. Assigned writing
3. Independent writing
4. Class presentation

Attendance Policy:
It is very important that you attend all of your classes. The students whose study in STKIP Nganjuk, I policy states the following:
A student at the STKIP Nganjuk is expected to attend at least 75% of classes in order to progress satisfactorily toward completion of course objectives. A student who is not meeting course objectives may be withdrawn from the course at the discretion of the instructor. If you must be absent from class, it is your responsibility to find out what work you missed in class, as well as any homework assignments and announcements about tests.
