Declarative
Sentence
A declarative sentence states a fact, argument or
opinion and ends with a full stop.
- Rendang is traditional
food from Padang.
(This is declarative sentence, because it is fact.)
- Tono and
Tini are
friends.
(Actually this sentence
could be declarative sentence, but this sentence unclear. who is Tono and Tini?
do you know?)
- I like
Korean drama.
(This is declarative
sentence because this is the writers’ opinion.
The writer has fact such as kinds of Korean drama)
- Maudy
Ayunda is smart actress in Indonesia.
(This is declarative
sentence because it is opinion.
Maudi Ayunda has multi talent in acting, pop singer, she also get scholarship
for study aboard)
- Jakarta
is the capital of Indonesia.
(This is declarative
sentence, because it is fact.)
- She
asked whether I liked her dress.
(Although this is an indirect question, it is
still a statement and therefore, a declarative sentence.)

Rewrite
each of the following sentences, turning the yes-no question into a statement
(declarative). Change the word order and (in some cases) the form of the verbs
as necessary.
Example: Is Sam’s dog shivering?
(Sam’s
dog is shivering.)
Wasn’t the boy in the snack bar wearing a
traditional dress from Madura?
(The boy in the snack bar was wearing a
traditional dress from Madura.)
